Parliament rarely feels like an innovation workshop, yet on 16 May it did. We stepped off the visitor path and engaged with MPs, Lords, and more than 200 hiring leaders to launch the UK Hiring Taskforce. Our shared goal is simple: Build hiring that is faster, fairer, and safer. VireUp backed the project because talk only matters when it turns into policy, strategy, and technology that serve real people. The dialogue was razor sharp, the energy unmistakable, and everyone left with tasks in hand. Below, our CEO & Co-Founder Efe Pazarceviren, and Strategic Advisor Lucy Bennell share what they experienced and why it matters.
Efe Pazarçeviren:

On May 16th, Lucy Bennell and I had the privilege of walking through the halls of the UK Parliament, one of the most iconic and influential buildings in the world - and we weren’t just there to admire the architecture.
We were there to talk about the future of hiring. Not in theory, but in action. With people who have the power to make it real.
We met visionary MPs, Lords, and industry leaders. And the conversations? They were honest, direct, and refreshingly solutions-focused.
We explored how to fix recruitment, from strategy and regulation to the role of emerging tech.
It was a rare moment of true alignment: The public and private sectors, working together in harmony.
No silos. No posturing. Just a shared commitment to raising the standard, and doing it collectively.
It was inspiring to see how much "passion and urgency" there is to define what great hiring should look like in the UK. And how open everyone was to change, as long as it’s done right.
At VireUp, we’re proud to be part of this journey. Proud to contribute to a movement that’s not just talking about the future, but actually building it.
Big thanks to Viscount Camrose and Keith Rosser for making this all possible.
This is just the beginning. Stay tuned.
Lucy Bennell:

What a fabulous time we had at the launch event of the UK’s Hiring Taskforce at Parliament on the 16th of May. It was very invigorating to spend time with more than 200 of the country’s leading Talent Acquisition and Hiring experts.
The project is sponsored by Viscount Camrose, who gave an insightful opening talk, reminding us that hiring processes in the UK haven’t really changed since the Middle Ages. I am totally on the same page as him in terms of “dropping the CV”!
The Taskforce, which is led by Keith Rosser, has been established to make hiring in the UK faster, fairer, and safer. It is structured around three workstreams focused on Policy, Strategy and Technology.
Sounds dry? Not at all (and I am not talking about the wine and nibbles, which were lovely!) It was invigorating to network and discuss how processes can be streamlined and strengthened and how technology should ALWAYS enable and deliver standardised, fair and TRANSPARENT results (way too much tech still introduces complexity and confusion).
VireUp is thrilled to sponsor such an important project, and we look forward to future collaboration.
